A wonderful treat on New Year's day is waking up to a blanket of fresh white snow covering the earth. It beckons and begs the soul to create something. A snowman, an igloo, a trail... When venturing outside and making in tracks in fresh snow, one soon sees that other creatures have already left their marks. Birds with tiny Y tracks barely scratch the surface. Deer whose hooves make deep, delicate hearts in places. What kind of marks do you make? Are your tracks deep and grooved from boots with traction? Or do you wear snowshoes and barely scratch the surface?
Just like a new snowfall, the new year is beckoning and begging us to create something. Our planners are crisp and white with little trails and tracks leaving marks as to what we will be doing and creating. Will you do as Robert Frost suggests and try the road less traveled this year?
When it comes to snow, it is much easier to go where someone has already made a trail. Whether it is walking, sledding, or driving. Your chances of getting stuck and frozen are less likely if someone has already created a path. But when creating your own path, you are the first to discover things. Sometimes when making a path in the snow you can find rich, green life right underneath the frozen whiteness. It often surprises and shocks us at what it lurking just below the surface.
Our lives are the same. Sometimes a new life is waiting for a us just below the surface. We need not dig too deep, or try too hard. If we get stuck or frozen, brushing away the things that do not serve us can help. When we least expect it - life will be waiting with it's wonderful gifts.
New beginnings are whispering to you. Beckoning you. Just below the surface of your fast-paced life - is real life - waiting for you. Take advantage of this time of new beginnings. This new year, brush away the things that do not serve you. Praise yourself and and others. Put down positive tracks and reap the benefits.
Have a happy, healthy, and prosperous 2013!
