The Love in Daddy's Hands

Father's Day is fast approaching.  Can you believe we have only been celebrating Father's Day for only forty-two years.  That's right the first official Father's Day happened in 1972.

The country music song Daddy's Hands has always touched my heart deeply.  I have never once listened to this song without tearing up.  The lyrics in this song describe my dad perfectly.  In his younger years my father worked until his hands bled.  Today his hands are still calloused from the many, many hours he put in to keep us all fed.  Now my own tough and hard-working husband is an icon of this song too.  It is his strong hands that are gently holding the baby chicks.

Without these two wonderful men in my life I would not be the woman I am today.  Their strong hands have held me and picked me up many times in my life when I needed it most.  They have always been there supporting me and my children.

Listen to this song and watch the video. Warning - it will make you cry if you, like me, are blessed with a resilient hard working father or husband.  My father's hands are pictured below, holding his favorite hat.

Thank you, Dad. Thank you, Bryon. I love you both with all my heart.

Thanks to all the father's out there who are working hard and providing for your families.

Please share stories below about the wonderful, hard-working fathers you know and love.

I LOVE my dad! I wrote a beautiful post about my dad (who has large, rough hands) this week - http://www.whatsupfagans.com/2014/06/fathers-legacy-work-love/

Happy Father's Day!

Thank you for sharing, Katelyn. I used to ride with my dad in his trucks, too. You dad and mine sound a lot a like. We are very blessed.
